Sorry ..
Do u mean A = D-Lux 4
B = LX 3 ?

I dont really see "much" of a difference here. I got my d-lux 4 two weeks ago and its way much better than the D-Lux 3.

Nice comparison pictures u have though.

Leica should be producing more natural color vs Panasonic on previous model. Looking at the Pictures, I am guessing Cam A is D-Lux and Cam B is Panasonic. In overall, for my personal preference, I like output from Cam A better except the pic with QBM and blue sky where I like Cam B more on that particular one.

Both the Elle + the QBM with blue sky seems having a blue Tint which are not seen in other few pictures. Are they using the same AWB ? or custom / adjusted WB ?

mishima,

yes cam A is D-LUX.  good-job

Kuen Hoong,
The QBM Blue Tint likely caused by the Auto WB interpreted by the camera & raw converters. For CAM A is Capture One 4.1, For CAM B is Silkypix 3.0 SE.

Just dropped in from another forum...

Do I understand your comparison correctly--that these are all show in RAW? Then I would think that almost differences are due to the converter--so much better to wait a little bit for Adobe and Apple to put something out.

In any event, I took one of your pairs and put it into Aperture, hit the "Auto Levels" button for both, added a *slight* increase to the LX3 (to compensate for it being set at -1, although the adjustment made was very slight. ) My goal was to "normalize" the two images to give a better "apples to apples" comparison.

Here are the results:

They look identical to me.

Ahhh. I see now. Can I ask why the LX 3 was set at -1 saturation?

Thanks,

Default of LX3 tend to oversaturate the photo, may be Japanese like more VIVID while German prefer balanced colour.

O.K, great. Thanks. But just to be clear, I had to *increase* the saturation (slightly) to get the images to look identical. That seems to suggest that keeping both cams at default settings might very well produce identical images. Or is the move from -1 to zero a large one (as I said, I applied only a slight increase in saturation).

Thanks!

Darin,

the step for LX3 from -1 to 0 is quite huge, I rather keep them in -1. I will show u why later with you some pics.
