1. Open to all Malaysian citizens and foreign visitors.
2. The contest is open to 2 categories:
a) Youth Category - Below 17 years old
b) Pro/Open Category - 17 years old and above
3. Each participant is required to pay a registration fee - RM5 for the Youth Category and RM10 for the Open Category.
4. All photographs must be taken within Penang Butterfly Farm locality only.
5. Participants must bring their own camera and equipments.
6. Participants agree not to harm, remove, displace or take home any of the insects or creatures inside the farm.
7. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any unforseen circumstances or accidents which occurs inside the farm locality.
8. Participants can send in as many entries as they wish, however a participant can only win one (1) prize or place.
9. Each entry must be accompanied by the date of the image was taken and also a tagline for the photograph. Please refer to the format attached.
10. No digital super imposition is allowed. Composite photographs or any form of digital manipulations will not be accepted. Only minor image touch-ups such as cropping, adjustment of brightness and colors as well as softening or sharpening of the image are allowed.
11. Images submitted must be in a printed copy of an 8R size photo paper and also in the JPEG format only. The size of the image shall be no smaller than 3MB and in 300dpi. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
12. All photographs submitted must be originally produced. Copyright of all images submitted shall remain with the Organiser after submission. Participant must grant the Organiser a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to display and use of the photograph.
13. Assessment of the photograph will be based on technical quality, composition and originality and also tagline.
14. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entertained.
15. Winners will be notified by telephone or via e-mail.
16. All winners will be invited to a Prize Giving Ceremony on 28 November 2008 during the closing ceremony of the 2nd Asian Lepidoptera Conservation Symposium. Any other costs such as cost of travelling and food is to be borne by the winners.
17. The Organiser reserves the right to substitute the prizes with equivalent value.
18. The Organiser will not be held liable in the event of loss, personal injury, or death as a result of participation in the competition.
19. The closing date for this competition is 15 November 2008. Submission after the stated date shall not be entertained.
