Title: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: myBest on May 09, 2007, 11:54:53 AM Converting to Black and White (B+W)
Here's a visual on some simple conversion using Channel Mixer in Photoshop (http://fotokrazy.com/gallery2/d/16540-1/OTC_2236pp2_B_W.jpg) Compare the difference in the dresses and skin tones. Hope this helps. Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: nikonK on May 09, 2007, 12:01:44 PM i like the R70,G30,R0
Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: myBest on May 09, 2007, 12:12:07 PM Yes, nicer skin tone for R70/G30/B0 but look again closely at the dress.
Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: samho on May 09, 2007, 12:27:07 PM on R70G30B0 the second girl from the right looks pale. on R30G70B0, the first gal from left look darker. how about R50G50B0???
Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: Albert Yap on May 11, 2007, 12:31:52 PM out of the pictures, i go for the R30/G60/B10, the skin tone should be correct as the 1st girl in green cloth is having a darker skin, the cloth also shown more details than other.
thx for sharing this interesting comparison. Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: myBest on May 11, 2007, 04:28:56 PM Hi samho and LBird, just glad that this matrix helped.
Will find some time to feature more variations on B+W conversion, hopefully soon. Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: kevteoh on May 11, 2007, 09:27:46 PM R30/G60/B10 and Green100% have good details, gives the BW a pop. For R30/G60/B10 could dodge the first lady's face if too dark for preference.

Here goes: (http://fotokrazy.com/gallery2/d/141179-2/ND3_0640omyBest_w800.jpg) Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: Albert Yap on December 25, 2007, 01:19:00 AM wowo, all 3 'edited' version shows very nice details. the warm homely feel works very well in this picture compare to the b/w and the color version. For the b/w version, I prefer a darker version overall as the sample shown, a little too 'bright' for my taste. The color version biggest differ compare to original would be the details from the front left sofa and the metal slide door at the back.

Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: noruazumi on January 02, 2008, 03:38:22 PM mybest, were those B&W came directly from camera?
the tones rather flat and too much mid-tones, IMHO. perhaps, using dodge & burn technique would give more ranges in the tones. Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: yric on January 02, 2008, 05:19:11 PM lov pic 3...

Les was driving and parked at Level 6 near Prangin side. myBest, les and goldwings started shooting the far view and later realized the beautiful pattern of the Cosmic outdoor seating arrangement right below... thanks to Les! Title: Re: Converting to Black and White (B+W) Post by: pipo on February 11, 2008, 11:26:43 PM the new CS3 allows you to choose 'black and white' from the layer adjustment menu, allowing you even more greater control over your picture while converting to B&W. be careful in not overdoing it though as it will results in sharp differences between the various grey scales.
