Live and living
The D90 is the first mid-class D-SLR to offer a movie function, allowing you to capture creative movie clips in motion JPEG at superb quality levels. Compared to the average camcorder, the far larger image sensor on the D90 offers higher image quality, a shallow depth of field and exceptional ISO performance while recording in low-light conditions. NIKKOR’s wide range of lenses offers great variety from fisheye to wide-angle to super-telephoto, adding more scope for creativity and emotional impact to your movies. Movies can even be played on the camera with sound, thanks to its uniquely powerful speaker / microphone system.

holy shit, now Nikon wan to capture small camcorder market too!

looked like cleaner than D300 in ISO6400. ehm..

My short 2:02 minute video chewed up 271.6MB!

2xx Mb for a 720p video is normal wud.  this guy obviously dint touch HD video.
This translate to 1Gb card MAX is 5mins +/-!

OK, let's run 32Gb CF card now.
32 x 5mins = 150Mins +/- Video.

I dun think is a CMOS problem loh, as Sony has been using CMOS for their video cameras for quite sometime already including the flagship DV cam too.

Sony ClearVid sensor size are tiny compare to APS-C or 135 format. Normal Sensor are around 1/3.13" in Sony ClearVid

True.  The latest HDV I tried from Sony was using 1/4"

Title: Re: D90?
Post by: Ikan on October 03, 2008, 05:17:38 PM
well, it's a VSLR that shoot stills la.. so it's ok la... plus it is not really suited for full time video shooting... u try to track a baby with this thing... hahahaa..

I need more depth... shallow DOF very susah de ne.. ahhahaha..

and it chews up SD real fast...

FOR a D70 upgraded dude like myself.. plenty happy now... Auto WB is super improved and waaa.. so many grades of Florescent whitebalancing...

ON the other hand.. it is a DSLR that shoots video too.. ahhahaha.. although not sharply focused all the time... i can't stop shooting my walking warrick.. errr...

OH.. PICASA 3 is cool too.. lemme see if i can direct upload my videos of some fresh videos a bit later.. going to try now.. hi hi hihi  :good-job:

Title: Re: D90?

"although not sharply focused all the time"

you can't MF properly or the camera it self does AF for video too?

Title: Re: D90?

Title: Re: D90?
Post by: Albert Yap on October 03, 2008, 06:02:26 PM
This is new to me, all the while I tot, no AF for video.   ehm should be the same AF speed as my D300 live view, tripod mode then :D

Title: Re: D90?

OK... i read it..

i used to have a ccd point and shoot and yes, smear happens on the ccd... and tat explains quite a bit about the  greenish tint D70 leave on indoor florescent pix.

On the CMOS sensor... waa... Wobbles, no smear, and yes.. partial exposure... under florescent light... macam flickering...

hehehe...  anyhow, i can still live with it.. I will just treat it as a feature

someone quoted "it's not a bug, it's a feature" hahahahah

D90 seriously is at very good value.
From the research done by DXO mark, D90 is having a better performances & quality compare to D300.  And is even far better than D2Xs.
